The Telluride’s shape slips between rugged and urbane. The $39,015 Telluride EX has leather upholstery, power tailgate, sunroof, cooled front seats, and wireless smartphone charging. The $36,515 Telluride S adds heated front seats, a power driver seat, 20-inch wheels, and second-row captain’s chairs. The base $34,015 Telluride LX comes with seating for eight, manually-adjustable front seats with synthetic leather, power features, the 10.3-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless start. Since there is no Telluride hybrid, the EPA ratings aren’t strong. It isn’t quick, but it has a serene ride, as the suspension quietly smothers bumps and road seams. There’s ample acceleration in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Telluride uses a 291-hp 3.8-liter V-6, mated to an 8-speed automatic, and they work well together. For 2022 it doesn’t change its winning ways, but it does add a few more bits of standard gear: a 10.3-inch touchscreen and automatic climate control become standard equipment, while the LX and S get adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go control. The Kia Telluride was new for 2020, and instantly became a favorite among three-row family SUVs.
